Research
Could be the James Allen who bought land from Gabriel Greenzweight in 1876, Lycoming Twp. (Vol.77, p.609, Lycoming Co. deeds).

In 1907 there was a deed for a sale by “ALLEN, James C. Est”

Ancestry.com now has a death certificate for a James C. ALLEN, born, 06-OCT-1819 and died 07-JAN-1907 [4030], Hepburn Twp.; his parents are reported as James C. ALLEN and _unknown_ TAYLOR. James’ occupation was Carpenter -- the James ALLEN in Sources[1034+1035] [1034], [1035] was a Carpenter. Informant was a Charles O. ALLEN of Williamsport. Findagrave Memorial# 127526926 is for a Charles O. ALLEN, 1868-1921. He is probably the same person as Ordie ALLEN. Perhaps Charles mistakenly confused the names of his father’s parents with his own parents?

Researchers who go with the theory that James' mother was Margaret CLENDENIN rather than Margaret SMITH, also claim his middle initial stands for "Clendenin." So far, James’ death certificate is the only document to include a middle initial.

There do not appear to be any other James ALLENs of the same age in Lycoming in 1850, who were also born in PA.
