Research
The 1881 census [907] shows that there was another David Winton (a woolen weaver), also born about 1820, in Dunning, Perthshire, residing in that same place in 1881, with a wife named Catherine (b. 1853, Dunning). As of that census, they had a daughter, Lillias Winton and a granddaughter, Catherine S. Angus. My speculation would be that these two Davids could be cousins. The LDS IGI database contains a record for the David from Dunning, in Batch No.C113504, Source Call Nos.1040067,1040068. This record gives a birth date of 02 AUG 1818, in Dunning. His parents were David and Lilias Winton, thus showing where the daughter's name came from. The only David Winton death record that comes close is one that probably is the David from Dunning (died 1898, age 79, in Dunning registration district). [1260] Based on Source [1296], the David here lived till at least 1901.
