Military
Contrary to the “Record of Burial Place of Veteran” [3639] associated with the burial plot in Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport, it has been determined from records in Pension Claim No. 549921 [4149], that the Henry B. SMITH who served in Co. D, 35th Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (6th Pa. Reserves), was in fact a man born in Etna, Licking Co., Ohio, 6 Mar 1838, and whose occupation was Shoemaker. It has further been found that the Henry in this family tree, was not enumerated in the 1890 Veterans Schedule of the U.S. Census for Lycoming Co., suggesting that he was not a veteran. The Henry B. Smith from Ohio, was enumerated in 1890, in Elizabeth, Wirt Co., West Virginia. In his pension testimony he indicated that he had moved to that county.
