Ole MYHRE was absent from the household in Wisconsin in 1880 because he was in North Dakota that year, securing homestead property in preparation for moving the family there. [2741] He may have been living in the household of James PAULSON in Barnes County, Dakota Territory, though that Ole MYHRE was listed as born in Norway in 1855.
Research
The 1870 census of Homer, Winona, MN. “Ole Myhre” is age 16 living with his widowed mother (Kari) and several siblings. This record says he was born in Wisconsin, but his siblings were born in Minnesota. Also in the household was farm laborer Ole OLESON, age 29, from Norway.

Comparing with the 1875 census [3281], it looks like Kari remarried to George OLESON between 1870 & 1875, so her name changed to Carry OLESON but the kids were MYERS [sic].
Dick Myhre (Findagrave member and grandson of Ole) says Ole’s mother was Kari Eriksdatter, so that fits with the 1870 census. Ole’s father apparently died before 1870.
