According to “Births Deaths And Marriages Victoria” there was a Peter CAMERON who died in Orbost, Victoria, Australia, in 1898, age 81; mother listed as “Jessie NICHOLSON” and father “Jas CAMERON”; Registration # 9168/1898. Name book says “Jessie” is a Scottish familiar form of Janet. Age 81 goes with birth ca. 1817.
Same source says Peter had a daughter, Jessie CAMERON, born 1854, in “CHER, Australia”? Mother’s name was Charlotte (MyHeritage says maiden name was PURCHASE; married 1850 @ Geelong?);. Registration # 6789 / 1854. Unable to find the marriage at Victoria site.
again from Victoria site, Jessie CAMERON married Archibald MOFFATT in 1882, Registration # 2461 / 1882,
in Victoria.
