Misc. Notes
The identity of Per’s father is unknown; his mother was not married to the man. [8700] The first time he was recorded with a surname, it was ÅKESSON. It is possible that was the father’s surname or that the father’s first name was Åke. At least by the time he had moved to Västra Staversvad in Oppmanna, about 1884, he started using the name “Per Åkesson LIND.” “LIND” could be a soldier name but his association with the military has not yet been documented.

From at least 1884 until his emigration in 1887, Per Åkesson LIND was not an established resident of any particular farm in Oppmanna parish, but rather “På Socknen,” meaning “in the parish.” He was either in a poorhouse or periodically rotated amongst various farms in the parish. Thus, when he moved out of the parish on 1 Mar 1887, his location from which he departed was recorded as “På Socknen.” [8699]

The 1887 moving-out record claims Per Åkesson LIND should be found on page 259 of the household exam for that year but you will not find him there (Oppmanna 1884-1891). There is a “Per SVENSSON” (born 24-MAY-1863) on page 259 who is noted as having moved out the same date as Per LIND, and he is #5 on the same moving-out page. Per SVENSSON’s moving-out entry originally stated he was on page 298 but that was crossed-out and replaced by “259.” It turns out that Per Åkesson LIND is on page 298, so the clerk just got the two men interchanged in the links to the examination book and failed to make a correction to Per Åkesson LIND’s entry. Also of interest is that Per SVENSSON sailed from Malmō on the same ship with Per Åkesson LIND and his future wife, Anna LILJEDAHL and all three of them declared their final destination to be Rockport, Massachusetts. The arrival passenger list (Boston, 1887) has “P. SVENSON” listed as passenger #159 on the same page as “P. A. LIND.” [8699] [8705] [8694] [8696]

The wheel steamer “Gylfe” likely only took them as far as Copenhagen, where a second ship took them to England, where they transferred to the S.S. Samaria.

Research
No children were born in March of 1847 in Oppmanna parish (at least not any they admitted to).

Where was he from 1870-1883 ?

Could he have emigrated twice? first in 1873 ? then went back for Anna?
Malmö police emmigration registers, don’t start until 1874.
There was a “Per Akison” who arrived at NY 29 May 1873, age 24 from Sweden, via Scotland & Ireland.

A laborer named “Per Åkessn Lindh” [sic] departed Malmö to Boston (probably via England), on 19 Aug 1880. The records from Malmö state he was 33 years old from Oppmanna, Kristianstad. But no corresponding moving-out record has been found in that parish.

Digitaliserade register, Emigranter, SE/RA/870001/4/6/2 (1880), bildid: A0069869_00052
says he was from Oppmanna, Kristianstad, age 33 (1847) “19/8” = 19 August
1:1990:1671 (volume/page/contract#)
Ancestry specifies an “Archive Call Number 1880:1990:1671” “1990” matches the police #; 1671 is the contract #.
Appears to have travelled with a friend, Sven Andersson, age 48 (1832) from the same place. Police #s 1990 & 1991 ship name = Alexandra
Sven’s index page:

Digitaliserade register, Emigranter, SE/RA/870001/4/6/2 (1880), bildid: A0069869_00017
In this case, Riksarkivet only has the index volume; Ancestry has the actual police register pages from ArkivDigital.

Ancestry doesn’t appear to have Boston passenger lists for 1880 ?
>>> according to Familysearch “Boston Passenger Lists for 1820 through 1891. There is a nine-year gap between March 31, 1874 and April, 1883.”
Checking Boston newspapers regarding ship arrivals, the SS Brazilian arrived in Boston, from Liverpool, 02-SEP-1880(03-SEP on list:no Swedes), so that’s one possible way he could have arrived (Boston Post). 29-AUG-1880, 3 ships, Canopus√(image#482-3:no Swedes), Bulgarina (Bulgarian√ on 30th-image#484:no Swedes) and Marathon√(Image#473-481:largest list, incl. Swedes), arrived at Boston from Liverpool.

Moving-out records for Oppmanna 1880 do not list Per or Sven.

so maybe it wasn’t 1873.

Not found in moving-out records for 1873 in Vånga, Oppmanna or Hjärsås parishes.
