Previously I had reported that this Thomas was the son of William CHOWN and Susannah BAYLEY, but no evidence has been found to support that. In that scenario, Thomas was a younger brother of William CHOWN (1753-1819) the schoolmaster/poet, but I have not been able to prove that yet, outside of the suggestion of such a relationship in Source [122]
The only thing linking Thomas and son John is a reference in an obituary which names Thomas as the grandfather of Joseph Parbury Chown. [122], [2367] John and his siblings are also referenced by a hand-drawn tree from a distant relative. [3448]

Research
There was a butcher named Thomas Chown, age 79 (1762), in Sibbertoft, Northamptonshire, in 1841, who was born in that county. Also in that household was a likely daughter, Helena Chown, age 48 (1793).
On 18-DEC-1826, a widower named Thomas Chown of Sibbertoft, married Sarah Brown, a widow of the same parish.
There was a Thomas Chown whose death in Northampton reg. dist. was registered in the Sep. Qtr. of 1848, Vol. 15, p. 189. No other details available without the actual register entry.
