Misc. Notes
Not to be confused with the George Nelson DOBIE who was born in 1895 in Northumberland, England (Newcastle upon Tyne registration district).

There was also a George DOBIE born 5 May 1863, in Dryfesdale, Dumfriesshire, to Thomas DOBIE & Margaret PATTERSON, so possibly related; see 1871 Scotland census, Ecclefechan, Hoddam parish, Dumfriesshire, and Scotland, Select Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950. And this wasn’t the only George DOBIE born that year in Scotland.

ScotlandsPeople has 6 persons named George DOBIE born 1862-1864. Only one with “Nelson” as a middle name; 4 with no middle name; 1 with a different middle name.

When George travelled from Montreal to Liverpool in 1919, he gave his European address as 71 King St., Aspatria (Cumberland), which is where he had lived in 1881.

When George travelled from Liverpool to Montreal in 1925, he reported his “Last Address in the United Kingdom” as Bridge House, Olney, Bedford, which is where Katherine’s father lived. [7036]

Misc. Notes
1901 census shows her living with her 12 year old sister Winnifred at a private school in Bedford St. Paul parish, Bedfordshire, while the rest of the family was in Olney, Buckinghamshire. [809]

At the time of her trip to Canada in 1920, Katherine reported she had been in Canada before in 1911, in Toronto, which also was her intended destination in 1920. On the 1920 Passenger Declaration form she stated her object in coming to Canada was to be married.
[7026] [7027]

At the time of her trip to Canada in 1926, Katherine reported she had been in Canada before from 1920-1925, living at St. Chad’s (College), Regina. All three children were born in Regina and she said she intended to reside permanently in Canada. Passage for this trip was paid by her husband.
