Misc. Notes
Note that while the birth/baptism record
[4874] matches the names of his parents, it is not certain that this is the same John CHOWN who married Mary ABBOTT.
Lived at Husbands Bosworth, Leicestershire, before moving to Kingsthorpe, Northampton, in November, 1808.
[123], [124] Marriage record (to Mary ABBOTT) has him in Burford, Oxfordshire, at that time (1811) and he was a widower.
[479], [4872], [2374] This leads to the question of whether the John CHOWN who married Mary M. ABBOTT, is really the Rev. John CHOWN here?
Had two or three additional sons (possibly by the first wife).
[122], [123]Sons John and Henry may have had a different mother from Selina, Cyrus and Mary.
[3448]May have been a minister at Byfield.
[2367]The account in Source
[122] and Source
[123] claims that John’s brother was the William CHOWN who was the schoolmaster and poet from Moulton, but that is not currently in agreement with the present state of this family tree.
At the time of the marriage of his daughter, Selina, John’s occupation was given as “Clicker”, which suggests he was not a minister.
[4904]
By strange coincidence(?) a John CHOWN and Mary Manning ABBOTT were married 22-NOV-1811, at Whissendine, Rutland, England (

Misc. Notes
Mary was noted as a widow in the 1851 census.
[4869] And her occupation was “Annuitant.”
The 1841 census suggests that husband, John, had already died before then.
[4871]Mary would have been John’s second wife (marriage reference indicates John was a widower in 1811)
[479]; perhaps there were also children by the first wife?
Marriage witnesses: Stephen MANNING & Elizabeth FITZHUGH.

[549] - this census schedule (1841) includes an Elizabeth FITZHUGH, age 65-69, in the first entry on the first of the two pages shown, which places her 10 households away from John CHOWN (1798-1852). On the same page is a William FITZHUGH, age 30-34 and a William PARBERRY, age 25-29. On the same page as John CHOWN (1798-1852) is a John PARBERRY, age 6, and a Richard FITZHUGH, 25-29.
