Misc. Notes
Received a small inheritance at age 21, from his grandfather, Samuel GREEN, who died in 1797. [3496, p.149] Samuel GREEN’s will helps to support the fact that Jonathan was the son of John HOOGLAND, son of William HOOGLAND, further placing in question the validity of Jonathan having a brother named John.

Moved to Philadelphia, shortly after marriage. [1868, p.62] At one time he owned land that is now occupied by Girard College in Philadelphia. [1868, p.62]

May have owned 81 acres in Columbia Co., Pennsylvania, but no evidence yet that he ever lived there. [1868, p.62]

A law was passed in Maryland, in 1829, to permit three men from the town of Cumberland to settle an account they had with road builders John Hogeland and Jonathan Hogeland, for work they did on Mechanic’s Street in Cumberland. [3802] I note, though, that Cumberland is a pretty good distance from Philadelphia.
