OccupationClerk in Steel industry [5254]
In 1920, Irene, age 17, was one of 14 lodgers at 453 Winneconna St. (today Winneconna is listed as a “parkway”), Chicago, Illinois, working as a nurse at Little Company of Mary Hospital.
[5247], [5275] And in fact all of those lodgers were nurses. The only questionable part of the record is that it says both her parents were born in Sweden. Interestingly, next door, at #455, is a Theo W. BERTHOLD, age 26, from Canada, who also worked at the same hospital. The 1930 census shows an Irene BERTHOLD, age 27, wife of Theodor BERTHOLD, age 37, from Canada, with children, Dorothy & Betty.
