Some people say Janet married Andrew BRAND 1818-20 but ScotlandsPeople only has a Janet Ferguson marrying an Andrew JACK in 1819, Perth parish.
Looking at it from Andrew’s perspective, an Andrew BRAND married a Janet BUTT, 1819, in Dunfermline parish (Fife). 1841 census has an Andrew BRAND b. ca.1796, Kinross, residing in Orwell with wife Janet (b.ca.1801 Kinross) & 8 children, oldest Hellen b. ca.1821, Kinross.
In Fife from 1810-1830 there were 6 marriages of a Janet FERGUSON, with actual dates spanning 1816-1828. None of the husbands were named Andrew. There were no such marriages in that period in Kinross-shire. Changing the search to Perthshire produces 60 marriages in that year range, including the one to Andrew JACK mentioned above.
a Helen BOWDEN (nee BRAND) died 18-JUN-1894, Dunfermline, Fife, widow of Robert BOWDEN. The death register entry (#248) says her parents were Andrew BRAND and Janet FERGUSON. Informant was Helen’s son, James BRAND. — saw the image of the register on an Ancestry tree. So now the question is, when and where did Andrew marry Janet? another register image found showing same parentage for an Andrew BRAND who died 02-AUG-1898, Kirkliston, West Lothian.
