There was an Elizabeth Brooks who died 05-JAN-1930, Minneapolis.
MNHS Certificate Number: 1930-MN-017539
and Findagrave MEMORIAL# 173383682 (says born 1865) - Lakewood Cem. Section 25, Lot 466, Grave 5
Note: Section 25, Lot 466, Grave 4 has “Andrew Brooks” 1847-1933. 1920 census has such a couple living in Minneapolis, but it says she was born in England. So not the right Elizabeth. Also says they lived at 2637 Dupont av S, which matches the obituary noted below.
An obituary dated 7 Jan 1930, The Minneapolis Morning Tribune (indexed as Star Tribune), p.19, says that Elizabeth lived at 2637 Dupont av S.; unfortunately no family members mentioned. Same day in The Minneapolis Star the death was listed in the Deaths statistics column, p.13. same list was in The Minneapolis Morning Tribune on 8 Jan 1930, p.11.
The new records search site at
mnhs.org claims the death was on 1 Jan 1930 (but the serch results page has the other date) and they no longer display the cert# (but claim they do). In any case, this appears to be for the Elizabeth who was born in England.

Misc. Notes
Family legend: George was a man that Elizabeth met on a trip to South Dakota; she came home pregnant with Fairy. While it is not known in what city she met George, the photo of her taken in South Dakota was made in Groton, Bristol or Bradley, where the photographer had studios.
Given the apparent errors in the birthplace data in the 1910 census entry for Fairy GRAY, the birthplace for George is suspect. That record says that Fairy’s mother was born in North Dakota; perhaps it was George who was born there.
[294] In 1900 it was reported that both of Fairy’s parents were born in Wisconsin.
