Misc. Notes
A witness to Sarah’s marriage was Elizabeth MAIN, possibly her sister.
[4695]Records show that a John STARMER, son of a John and Sarah STARMER, of Harpole, was baptised, first, on 21-APR-1826 and inexplicably again on 30-JAN-1828, at Harpole, and was buried 14-JAN-1840, at the age of 13.
[4419], [4426], [4420] This conficts with the fact that Sarah’s 2nd child was John, who appears to have been still alive in 1851.
[4423] It turns out there was another John STARMER of Harpole who, on 21-DEC-1820, married a Sarah FROST
[479], [5954]. So it is possible they are the parents of the John who died young. There is therefore some confusion as to the distribution of children between the two John & Sarah STARMER couples. But I would conclude that the boy who died in 1840 was the son of Sarah FROST. And that Elijah (b.1814), John (b.1817) and Martha (b.1819), must have been the children of Sarah MAIN. This leaves in question, Sarah, William, Esther, Mary, Eli and Ann. Eli lived very close to John (b.1817) in 1851, so that is in favor of him being the son of Sarah MAIN. The Sarah STARMER, widow, age 58, living next door to John (b.1817) in 1851, is almost certainly Sarah MAIN, and thus her birth year is circa 1793. Eli lived in the same family with Esther and Mary in 1841, so that suggests they also belong to Sarah MAIN.
Further confusion arises because it looks like Sarah MAIN and Sarah FROST were of nearly the same age?
There was a Sarah FROST, baptized 4-NOV-1787 in Harpole, dau. of John & Elizabeth FROST.
therefore of the right age to have married the John STARMER who was baptized 8 Nov 1787, Harpole.
son of Wm. & Ann STARMER.
Several Sarah FROSTs born/baptized in the range 1787-1795.
A Sarah STARMER, age 79, was buried in Harpole, 26-JUL-1872, but could be either of the Sarahs.
A BMD index entry corresponding to this gives the same age and shows the death was registered in Northampton registration district, Sep 1872 Qtr., Vol. 3b, p. 63 (index page 267). ===> This certificate has been obtained and appears to be the correct one based on location of death, age at death and the statement “Widow of John Starmer, Shoemaker.”
[4688]A Sarah STARMER, age 34, was buried in Harpole, 28-JUN-1827, thus also born in 1793.
[4496] Perhaps this was Sarah FROST?
Another Sarah STARMER, unknown age, died in 1859 (registered in March quarter), Northampton vol. 3b, p.41.
Also, 1851, Dec. Qtr., Northampton vol. 15, p.214.
Also, 1862, Dec. Qtr., Northampton vol. 3b, p.56.
The 1871 census appears to show her living with her daughter Esther and son-in-law William SMITH, in Harpole. Now she is 78. So this now suggests the 1872 death is the right one.
