The marriage index used here( [479]) notes that John was a “bachelor, minor, boatmaker[sic - probably “bootmaker”] whose father, John, was noted as a bootmaker.

However, the John STARMER whose marriage is listed in FreeBMD for the Dec. Quarter 1837, does not appear to have married anyone named Jane; the only possible names listed are Ann, Elizabeth or Martha. However, there still could be a problem with the data, since John is the only one whose registration district is Northampton; all of the potential spouses whose records point to Register Vol. 14, Page 525, are listed as Gainsborough registration district (with some spelling variations).
