Misc. Notes
In the December 31, 1865, Norwegian Census, he was on the Kvalsringen farm in Saksumsdal, Faaberg. On the farm are Peder age 53; Berta, 37; Ole 17; Peter, 5; Arnt, 2; and Mathea, 13. (Book 8b, page 7.) Shown with them is Karen Johannesdatter, age 64. He emigrated to the USA in 1881.

Certificate by S. Vinsnes, Pastor of Faaberg Parish (Norway) dated on May 28, 1881 gives parents names, birth date, baptism date, conformation date, stated he "partook of Holy Communion the last time here on the Ascension day last passed". It also stated "Of all of which I hereby certify, with the further fact that to that to my best knowledge he is not bound by any public promise of marriage".
1900 Census states Peter immigrated in 1881. Naturalization paper states he came through the port of Boston.

Certificate of USA Citizenship in La Crosse County, La Crosse, WI, was dated May 31,1904. It states affidavits were made by Wm. Anderson and Ole Quall.

Stan Quall says Peter came from Lillehammer, Norway. He worked a whole year on a fishing boat to earn the money to come over. He returned for a visit in 1927.

Stan told of Peter skiing downhill to a dance in Norway and when the dance was over it took him until 4:00 the next afternoon to get home.
When Peter went to Norway for a visit he meet the king. He stayed at the Gunderson farm, called a plantation, for a while. The Gundersons took him to meet the king.

The "home farm" in Wisconsin is north of Holmen on highway 53.

A living descendant of Peter and his 2nd wife, remembers he ate peas with a knife.

"Rainbow" Sjolander remembered Peter being a "burly fellow with a rough voice." Not sure of Mr. Sjolander’s connection to the family but an obituary can be found here (as of 21-Apr-2013):

1900 Census shows Oscar, Bernard, Lilly, Adolph, Edwin, and Selma.
1920 Census shows Adolph 24, Ed 22, Selma 20, Birdie 18, Agnes 17, Viola 15, Pern 13, Stanford 9, & Borge 4. --Oscar and Lilly were on the 1920 Census with Bernard.

Information from Opplandsarkiver avd. Maihaugen in Lillehammer at Maihaugen Museum in Norway states "Petter" on birth, baptism and census. He is on the census of 1865 and of 1875 at Kvalsringen, Saksumsdal, Faaberg.

All the above notes from source: [1122]

“Quall” appears to be an Americanization of the Norwegian farm name, “Kval.”
