Jan moved the family from Long Island to Freehold, Monmouth Co., New Jersey, in 1714. Then in 1719 moved to Brunswick, New Jersey. In 1721 the family was in Rariton, Middlesex Co., New Jersey (“Rariton” as a placename no longer exists in that county). By 1741, Jan and son Derrick had settled in Amwell, Hunterdon Co., New Jersey, on 278 acres of land, which Derrick eventually passed down to his sons William and James.
