Although living alone as a lodger in 1930, the census gives his status as married. And yet the 1927 Denver City Directory listing only mentions him as the allegedly deceased husband of Cora. [2343], [3029] Then in 1928, Elmer is the only GREENSWEIGHT in the Denver directory. [3031]
At least by 1940, Elmer had moved into the Burlington Hotel at 2205 Larimer, in Denver. The census enumerator badly mangled his name twice, first as “GUENAMEGER”, and then because Elmer qualified for the Supplementary Questions, “GUENANERGER.” And because of those extra questions it adds strength to the identification because it states that both of his parents were born in Pennsylvania. The 1948 Denver City Directory lists Elmer E. still living at 2205 Larimer, but it also lists his wife as a widow! [3028]
